I've noticed the delay too, but as mentioned by someone else, I've gotten used to it and can now time when to put it in drive so that just as I come to a stop, it engages and off I go, so there's no "delay" really to speak of, and no extra stress on the drivetrain.
But really man...5 seconds??? Come on! Do you realize how long 5 seconds actually is?!?! That's a LONG time!!!!!!! Exaggerating much??
