No, but I think Nick was worried that the IACV wouldn't operate without the coolant temperature affecting it.
That's true on old cars that use a spring that is moved by the temperature of the coolant, but our new style IACV use an electronic motor, controlled by the ECU, using the coolant temp sensor as the gauge, to move the IACV. Removing the coolant from that whole assembly effects nothing.
