I've been in the market for a 06/07 wrx or sti and have done a lot of searching of reviews. They seem to be pretty 50/50 but I can only assume many satisfied customers don't write a thread about how happy they are that their car works. These guys have been around for 6 or 7 years now I believe and I don't really see how they could still be here if EVERY car is as horrible as some people say.
Can a Pre Purchase Inspection and a compression test solve many of the problems people have from them? A few people have had blown motors within weeks, leak down would show this ahead of time. Some have had certain parts fail early or a pieced together frame, wouldn't a PPI show this? It seems like many customers just buy these cars sight unseen and then are surprised when it's not what they thought.
The other half of people are completely fine, car runs great, no issues, and still drive it.
So could these 2 tests weed out the major problems that seem to arise?
