I said the same thing a long time ago. If you don't ride a lot of miles/distance then yeah no need for a touring bike.
I would consider an FZ6 as a light touring bike. Doesn't have the seat or the space for long long trips but you can ride 500 miles or so on it no sweat.
I know they look ugly and I agree but that kinda stuff goes out the window once you ride one you actually like.
