at 75 wrms you're looking at 55w actually getting to the speakers for a 1.25db loss with stock wires.
with 14ga you're looking at over 70w on the speakers and a .15db loss.
That's almost 25% increase by switching wires. Not to mention the headroom.
Your amp will also be working harder to cover the extra .5ohms (clipping).
I'm not sure what kind of competition cars you were doing but comps aren't really known for their "highs", especially when you use the phrase "unless you are an audiophile".
I've installed countless amps using the factory wires but what it boils down to is there is a right way and a wrong way.
You're running wires as it is, just get them through the boot. Take pride.
