I think you're right.
Did you try driving your car with just the Cobb shifter, before adding the bushings? If so, was just the shifter a huge improvement? I would think it would be nice to adjust the throw length and the shifter height, even if the feel isn't as solid without new bushings.
And to confirm, is the Cobb shifter link I pointed to a couple posts earlier the correct shifter?
