Yes Subaru can deny a claim do to fact if its not "certified" used car from Subaru.

So to the op the Chevy dealer u bought it from what did they state what kind of warranty and I mean in "writing". With only just getting the car and something like this happening I wouldn't except anything but full coverage regardless. I'm not sure with used cars from a dealer but I know with new cars for sure u have so many days to return it, no questions asked. Have a look at your bill of sale and see what it says.
