Please confirm for all of us that the Purolator 14459 filters are correct for our Imprezas. For some reason, Amazon says this filter is not compatible (but I've had problems with Amazon's compatibility database in the past, so it wouldn't surprise me that the 14459 is in fact the correct filter for us).
Only Purolator or Subaru can make that call. I've run two PL14459 over a combined 10K+ miles with no issues.

On all my cars, I like running the largest filter with the most efficient media I can find, given the other specs are close. I haven't seen better efficiency numbers than 99.9%.

Who's talking about the orange can? Why was it even brought up? And I would hardly call Fram's ultra line of filters "barely acceptable." If you actually read about them and did the research you'd find out that they are comparable to royal purple, Mobil 1, amsoil, and even purolator as far as quality and performance, yet cost less than all of those!
Let me rephrase then, I'll run nothing from the makers of the orange can. Even if they were free, I'd still pay $6 for the yellow can (or Bosch, or M1).
