Wow, the Amsoil bypass filter is priced at $272, and that's not including the spin-on adapter which is probably another $56. Then you add on the cost of replacing the extra filter elements over the life of the car.
I don't think I could convince myself that this extra level of filtration is worth it. My Blackstone Used Oil Analysis came back with very positive comments. The engines in my cars are never the reason I have to get rid of the cars (instead, it's usually a transmission failure or extreme rust).
Other than your own peace of mind, do you really think this hundreds of dollars over the life of the car will buy you anything that you wouldn't have gotten anyway with normal, proper care of the car (that is to say, long engine life)?
