It would not surprise me if this is the reason manufacturers use softer bushings in the first place--noise reduction.
Put the car up on ramps today and inspected the shift linkages and bushings and everything seemed to be nice and tight, nothing loose to have been causing the extra noise/vibration.
So based on the stiffer bushing theory, I switched both front and rear bushings from the stiffer KB ones back to the stock ones and the extra noise/vibration went away!
I guess something had to be sacrified, either notchy shifting or quieter ride. I chose the latter since this is my daily. Lol
