no need for R , just put in neutral and release the clutch a tad. It will only hold the amount of brake pressure you initally give it.

You 88 subaru was mechanical and much better than this new crap. It would hold the brakes until the clutch was released to a certain point. Only thing was, it required some occasional adjusting. You want the brake to release before teh clutch would engage.
