Yeah, that's been going on for a while. To be fair to Audi, even in the old days an S4 wasn't equivalent to the M3. It was really with the B6's introduction of the V8 that it became competitive for a short time. Problem is, the E90's N54 335i (due to being underrated) nearly matched Audi's V8, but the B7 and B8 S4's continued on at about the same power level as the B6. So once again, the 33x was essentially equal to the S4. I think. I don't really follow the Germans that much.
