If you need to mount more than one thing on your roof other than a bike tray, I'll recommend going with the square or round bars as you are gonna have more real state to work with.

Perhaps I need to search the thread better for pics of the oem mounting

I am only wanting to carry 2-3 bikes (3rd bike being small enough to easily fit in the hatch as it is a toddler bike)
