If Subaru ever brought their diesel engine to the USA, I'd be looking to see if they avoided VW's stupid design mistakes.
It's possible, albeit not a diesel I run air to water intercoolers on a couple cars and have never had trouble. It's most likely the media they use for cooling. Treating it as a regular cooling system would be adequate considering the egt's are most likely cooler than I'm running at high boost.
