It's possible, albeit not a diesel I run air to water intercoolers on a couple cars and have never had trouble. It's most likely the media they use for cooling. Treating it as a regular cooling system would be adequate considering the egt's are most likely cooler than I'm running at high boost.
I'm sorry, I misspoke. The VW TDI uses an air-to-air intercooler, which causes the condensation problem I described. An air-to-water intercooler would solve that problem.
