I really like the Impreza from a size, style, and features perspective. The whole thing is just frustrating that Subaru paired it with an engine that doesn't always work as well as it could. Seriously almost no one could be more excited for the car than I was, I bought one of the first Imprezas sold in the Northeast. I keep checking for 2014 Impreza news hoping they bring back an Impreza 2.5RS...
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why the XV is selling as well as it is. If I wanted a small Subaru with more ground clearance than my Impreza Sport, I'd jump straight to the new Forester.
My guess is that the XV sells because it is cheaper than the Forester, and probably gets slightly better fuel economy. But if it were my money, I'd buy a Forester over an XV.
Of course, I'd configure the Forester with a manual tranny, because I only buy cars with sticks and clutches.
