As for your problem, I would have to say that the failure was due to the breakdown of the rubber brake hose, not the caliper. This is becoming a very common problem on ALL makes of vehicles. The rubber is just substandard and decays from the inside out. Once it starts to collapse, you hit the brakes, brakes clinch, but the collapsed hose doesn't bleed pressure off eventually wearing rotor and all out. I have seen this on my Talon, Tina's Cherokee, my CJ, my mothers Acura, my father's Dodge Ram, etc. My good friend runs a Big-O tire store and he said that it is VERY common in his business.
