Just as a test I checked the resale value of a 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sedan and a 2012 Mazda 6 Sedan. For the MSRP it's just the base price with no options (probably around an extra $1,000 for each to add on the automatic/CVT transmission). For the KBB resale it's the base model with no options except adding on an automatic/CVT transmission, with 12,000 miles. I used 2012 as an example because KBB doesn't have the 2013 listed yet.
Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sedan $17,495
Mazda 6 i Sport 4dr Sedan $20,480
Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sedan $15,122
Mazda 6 i Sport 4dr Sedan $12,219
Resale Value %:
Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sedan 86%
Mazda 6 i Sport 4dr Sedan 60%
The CVT took some getting used to for me but I like it now. Makes going up some of the hills around here pretty nice. And I wouldn't really want to sacrifice the AWD. The new Mazda 6 is a nice looking car though.
