It has the same engine, so the same chance that you will get an oil burner, and probably the same chance as if you buy any new car of having an issue that will need warranty work.
Actually the chance of having an issue requiring warranty work is lower for the Impreza, if you believe Consumer Reports reliability data and predictions.
Me, I estimated less than .02% of the new Impreza's had an oil consumption issue, 79 argued endlessly that is was far, far, higher. This went on for months.
He also thought Subaru was downplaying the issue and would not perform warranty work.
Obviously, there is a process that sucks and that you have to pursue, but most owners with the issue are getting some warranty work to correct it, if you believe what they write.
After all the arguing, 79 traded his oil burner with a flawed engine based upon flawed engineering for an XV (same engine) and has had no issues with oil consumption and is quite happy.
Who knew the Love of Subaru would win in the end...
