I am assuming the subaru oil they are using should not be too bad?
Subaru "brand" motor oil is made by Mobile1. I have been useing NAPA 0W20 synthetic oil($3.29 a quart on sale ) which is made by Valvoline and I have had no oil consumption issues. In the past, I have used Mobile1 in Subaru's(turbo models) and had bearing issues.-- Just my personal 2 cents.
