Haha, you think I've been driving for 7 months and not had a bug hit it? PD is very durable. I apply it on people's car like a 3M venture shield to protect against rock chips and bug gut etching. Most people use a power washer to clean their dipped cars. Trust me, a bug spat will do nothing. In fact I've had a bird suicide on the front of my car while driving 60 and it left quite the bloody mess but the dip is fine.
You are right about having a little bit extra for backup though. Most people will have to repair some kind of spot or scratch at some point. From my experience my inner fender wells take the most abuse from having all kinds of road grime and other road debris thrown up at it. The door cups and handles also get abused especially if you have a GF with long fingernails. Nothing a little TLC cant fix.
