I've always just considered this a "manual transmission thing". I had a 2008 Spec V (2.5L N/A) that acted the same as my WRX. My friend has a 2009 Si (2.0L N/A) and it does the same thing.
I came from a manual 2005 VW GTI (1.8T) and never felt this before like I do on the WRX. Who knows though, I personally couldn't find any good info on it when I tried to search about this last month.....only other WRX owners telling me it's from the poor stock tunes these newer models came with.........
