In fact if the starter motor is disengaged then it would be more beneficial since you have less drag on the motor. I have never owned a subaru before let alone tried to jump start one so I am only talking from experience with other cars. It would be nice to know if there is a fundamental reason why you wouldn't be able to jump start a subie.
