Before starting a new thread, I figured I'd post up here.
I bought my car with the hybrid swap already done. The PO spun a bearing and was on a bit of a budget with the rebuild. This was my first dip into Subarus and obviously hybrid swaps. I didn't ask one of the most important questions: Were the heads chambered to match the 2.5l block?
I was satisfied with the power levels at the time, but have since developed the itch to go a bit bigger. I talked to the shop that did the swap and they weren't entirely sure if the heads were chambered. I also contacted the PO and he wasn't sure either.
From what I've read, the heads being chambered is a major contributor to knock and essentially not chambering the heads can lead to hotspots and is generally bad news if you want to make power.
So now I'm coming to you guys. Short of ripping the motor apart, is there any definitive way to tell if the heads were chambered?
