Well My EA-82T did 15+ psi non-intercooled on 87 octane in 100+ degree temps all day long no questions asked.

Really relaiblity is all about keeping detonation away and living through a couple minor det events.

The EJ22T or the EJ257 will do that.

The simple fact is the world has moved on since the EJ22T was made. The improvments in the current blocks are not poke you in the eye obvious, but they add up to one heck of a sweet block.

Oh and on the 9K bit? Last time I did some calculations on it IIRC the EJ25's stroke and rod lenght means that it sees approx the same stress as a Teg Type-R does at 8K. So my guess is that if you really wanted to a stock STi Type-US motor could take 9K on the bottom end. But you still would have to get some stiffer valve springs to make that end relaible.... and I wouldn't do it anyway unless i had a nice reserch motor to play with. 8K will be fine for me once the ECU is cracked.
