DIY isn't too bad. It took me 4 hours. If I had to do it again, I might be able to finish an install in an hour and a half.
Few tips if you decide to install yourself:
1) Instructions say to use 1/2" drill bit. Start small! The paper templates, which come in the kit, are slightly off the mark. You should find the pre-tapped metal holes under the plastic by drilling an exploratory hole first. Then, you can enlarge the holes. I had best luck with a dremmel tool.
2) Instructions say you need a in-lb torque wrench. The values are so small you can get them by "hand-tight".
3) You might want a bottle of fingernail polish on hand. Just about every time I drilled a hole, I nicked the painted surface underneath. Or a good drill stop would be ideal to use.
