Dude - you need some sort of bracket in the 2nd airbox - without the filter, the airbox is not sealed, so it's basically like a huge vaccum leak.
Not good.
You *could* try cutting out the filter material, but leaving a little piece in the middle to support the gasket. Try this at your own risk of course, cauz this is all speculation by me.
