LOL! At least you're honest. Aaron tried to make up some story about not being prepared.
I don't think it was too hard on the car. The worst part was in the morning when we were running counterclockwise. If you went wide on the first turn that was out of sight there was a dip followed by a sudden "yump." I'm pretty sure I hit the bump-stop on my right front on that one. After that I stayed inside on that turn until we went the other way. The other direction the course was fine (and some faster).
I think I did more damage (mostly to the paint) romping down the dirt/gravel road trying to follow that speedvision guy. OMG was he flying. I thought he was going to roll that minivan. My wife had one hand on the oh-***** handle and the other over her eyes the whole way.
I kinda' have to do this to my car. It's part of why I bought it. The car is just so versatile that I have to use it to it's fullest. I can drag race on Friday night, rallycross on Saturday, and autocross on Sunday. Then all I need to do is wash it Sunday night and drive it to work on Monday and grin at the marketing yahoos as they talk smack about their M3's.
It's what keeps me going these days.
