Who knows? Is it worth 5K to let someone drive your car for that time? How much would the car depreciate in those months anyways? If it's about equal to the depreciation, then it might make sense. If it's less than the depreciation, it doesn't make much sense. You're basically buying a used vehicle for more than if you bought it from someone else.
Other things to consider... can you save up 5k by spring yourself? Do you get enough snow where you live to require snow tires? Who will buy the tires? What if the vehicle is in an accident, and what will happen to the car at that point? Do you want an 04, or do you want to see what will be new or fixed in 2005 model year?
