Thanks for the compliments!
My car's been neglected bad over the past year....so it took a little bit to get it back to this condition.
I had some work done, and the body shop did a nice job at putting overspray on everything. They cleaned up some of it, but it was no way perfect.....it's still not perfect. There's still some small areas where it's not smooth if I run my hand across. I ran out of the polish I was using.
Anyway, I use a combination of polishes/waxes. I tried the clay bar they used, and to be honest, I was not impressed, in some cases I got scratches from it. So that step was pretty much a useless one. I never really cared for claybars, and after trying one, still don't.
If you have light surface oxidation, swirls, scratches, etc I recommend a product from the waxshop called safecut http://www.waxshop.com/safecut.asp
I've been using it for about 6 years, my uncle turned me onto it...he's been using it longer, and he's about as anal about cars as I am.
So regardless of what wax you use, this is a good surface prep. It makes the surface extremely smooth and ready for wax.
For wax, I use zymol's Japon wax http://www.emmonscoachworks.com/ecom...m?p=5398&cat=4
Emmon's Coachworks is a good place to get it from.
I also use a product from zymol called HD cleanse http://www.emmonscoachworks.com/ecom...m?p=5411&cat=5
It's a surface prep as well, you only need to do that once or twice a year.
If you keep up with waxing and stuff, you'll probably only need to use the hd cleanse once to twice a year and safecut once or twice a year to help with swirls, water spots, etc.
Zymol is unique in that after you get done, you let the car sit in the sun for 10-15 min and then buff it out again. It helps set the oils in the wax.
So for those that were counting.......I did 4 different steps.....even though only 3 actually helped....which took several hours.
It is definitely not for someone that wants a quick and easy job, but I have yet to find something that puts a better shine on my car.
Even if you don't use the zymol, the safecut product is a must!
hope that helps.
