INCORRECT.
You're holding up because you probably failed to remove the release fork pivot rod from the case. Read your manuals again. Remove the pivot rod cover, screw a 10mm bolt into the hole, and pull the rod out. Pull up on the fork to release it from the release bearing, then pull the engine and tranny apart.
