people are always selling mint wheels here for deep discounts. Pick a set with some good rubber and you will be way ahead. Try for a little smaller diameter than stock.
I second the advice on the rear sway, struts and springs. They will do more for the fun quotient than intake and muffler.
For power, the best bang for buck is K&N with snorkus ectomy and a WRX muffler with custom 2-2.25" mid-pipe. Put some new copper NGK plugs in.
A light cam pulley is good stuff too.
