Well when my family purchased their 1994 Legacy Touring Wagon (Way before I could drive) the other cars under consideration were:
Volvo 850 Wagon
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Honda Accord Wagon
In my mom's mind Subaru didn't even exist.
She wanted something that would carry a lot of stuff, get her places when it snowed, had an automatic, and had respectable power.
My dad hauls her down to the Subaru Dealership, where she test drives a L wagon, and hates it, but likes the price.
Just as we are about to leave, a Car transport with just two cars on it rolls up. One's a Loyale, ugh she says, the other was the car we took home (after the techs rushed it through inspection, and a test drive)
It had everything she wanted. and after that model year, they stopped making turbos.
