on the ashtray mount it was a cut-off disc on an die grinder, and then some finishing up with a dremel. between that and enlarging the gauge pack for the 2 1/16" domestic-sized gauges, there was plastic crap flying everywhere!
Eli, you about covered it all-- all I would add is:
Don't bother with the crappy gasket that comes with the oil return line from the turbo... it's too easy for it to oil soak and become useless.
Instead go to a Yamaha dealer and pick up a tube of Yamabond, your driveway will thank me later. Soon you will learn the value of Yamabond as a great all-purpose semi drying gasket / sealer and you'll be telling others about it too.
Oh, and also count on the jet hot reducing the size of everything with a hole just enough that you have to lightly hog it out with a drill bit by hand. And if it's a threaded hole... well that's just fun.
