I have an 03 5sp. I admit that it was a problem when I first started driving the car. I drove 8 hours to pick it up to begin with, so I had some practice on the way back. It doesn't really become a problem (to me) if you are between 3500 and 4000 rpm. I have had 3 other manual cars. The 98 Sentra shifted somewhat smooth, the 90 Miata shifted really well (love the close gears), and the 76 corvette shifted really bad (which is why technology marches on) LOL. I agree with a few people here though, put the car around 3500 and then shift.
Hey for the first few months, my wife and I just learned to drink (diet cokes) between shifts. LOL Once you are in 5th it's cool.
