Put all the stuff back on, still works. Turns out that when I was playing with the throttle linkage, I freed it up and now the throttle is opening wider.

My question is: If the throttle linkage didn't permit the carburetor to get fully open when floored, say only 75-80% or so - would that cause it to fail a smog test?
