Wink Crazy idea about mounting guages

I dislike the idea of mounting the guages on A pillar (too many people done that and doesn't quite fit well in a sedan), thus trying to find other "good" place to fit the guages.

My car is a MY00 Legacy, not Impreza, so interior will be different than Impreza.

Orginally, I was going to mount the guage to 2 center A/C vent then I will use a vent cover from a 93 Civic and direct the air out of the top of the dash. Since this involves a great deal of chopping up the dash, I put it as the last option.

Then my weird instinct tells me I can mount the guages at the top portion of the door panel. This way I will have 3 guages facing me and well hidden from outside. If it is well worked, it might turn out to look great. Problem is now I have to cut the door panel and the door frame. If the cutting of the 2 part doesn't line up......

Where else would you guys mount the guages? I really like some input from you guys, thanks.
