I agree totally - my first discs were xdrilled , looked good till I saw them on the car then decided they looked rather naff!

I was told that the Xdrilling is slightly better at removing gas than grooves but not significantly! Can also cause cracking

I found that the drilled discs chewed my pads really quick and were much noisier than grooves (curved grooves are supposed to be even quieter)

Don't go for grooves and drilled (or those daft Tarox discs with 40 grooves) because you will be loosing too much pad area and so will have less braking effect
