I read that same article in SCC and I totally disagree that lowering your car will "ruin" its handling!!
Any time you make a suspension change its important to keep in mind that you have parts that work together. Trying lowering springs with stock shocks will very likely provide poorer handling at the limit, but if you're running modified springs with modified shocks (read ==> modified valving too match the spring rate), you will easily out handle a stock car with the same wheel/tire combo.
With lowering springs, what you will "ruin" is comfort in comparison to stock. However, that doesn't mean the car will be unbareably uncomfortable to drive unless you go completely overboard with the spring rates.
If lowering your car truely "ruined" the handling, all BTCC/JTCC race cars would have 6" of ground clearance like the stock cars. Rally cars ==> lowering will ruin your handling as you will repeatedly pummell the bottom of your car into the ground.
