I understand your point, but I don't follow your logic. Either it's bypassing because it's clogged with crap, or it's not. I can't believe a modern engine driven in 'average' conditions like commuting in the suburbs is going to clog up an oil filter in 3k miles to the point that it's going to cause oil to go the bypass route through the filter.
