I you catch the tear quick enough( a day or so) you can get away with just replacing the boot. The joint fails most often when the grease is flung out and is run dry. My guess is the boots are getting very hot(diff heat during donuts...maybe), than getting cold rapidly in the snow play sessions. That's my guess(probably wrong though. You may just CV gremlins tearing them apart like on the twilight zone movie
