I don’t understand why everybody tries to get around the controller. Is it the cost for the part or the “so-called” complexity to wire it in?

Honestly wiring the controller is a piece of cake! Even more so if you wire it up towards the ECU that way you only have to run 1-wire back as opposed to 2-wires up. I wired mine on a 12” whip right at the ECU and it’s mounted under the kick-plate adjacent to the ECU and hasn’t given me one problem since. If you don’t have a plug for it no big deal either. Carefully cut the plastic housing around the terminals and solder directly to them then shrink’em. You can also use spade-terminals with shrink but it’s a tight fit with a good possibility for shorting between spades. I choose solder and it was easy..

As for the part, find it used or with your harness otherwise it’s expensive new…
