+1 for Pilkington or PPG glass over others. Also make sure to get all of the foolish Subaru installed plastic guides out out of the original sealent and windshield frame. I feel that those are the culprit of many factory installed winshields with cracks originating from the edges.
If you are super picky like me remove your wipers and the plastic cowl trim before you go to the glass shop. Have them R&R the glass. If you have some touchup paint see if they will let you touch up any scratches in the window frame that they might made with their tools. Rust sucks went it starts from a place you cannot get to after the winsdshield is already in place.
Then reinstall the cowl trim yourself afterwards. Some glass shop dingbat will try to wedge the new glass in under the cowl trim and screw up the trim clips or crack the new windshield. Theirs is not the right way to do it....but I guess it is the easier profit-minded way?? Also denatured alcohol works wonders on removing non-cured windshield sealent, it cannot hurt to have some handy just in case.
