I believe Prodrive said the new 6-speed is good to about 350ft/lbs. of torque. That could easily be well over 400hp. It's vastly stronger because the entire thing was redesigned. Yes, lot's of racers use 5-speed dog boxes, then again, there aren't any true dog replacements yet for the six speed (the zero sports six speed gives up _reverse_, and is for the old tranny anyway).

Clutch dumping and drag launches will kill most AWD trannies. Unless you just want to wow your friends with your 1.7 60' times, aim for 1/4mi trap speeds instead, and ease into the launch. They are more indicative of street performance anyway. I had a FWD sentra with a CA18DET in it that ran 14.7's...it also had a 98.3mph trap...faster than my WRX which ran a 13.79 (I've been to the track twice). The point is, if you optimize for trap speed, you will probably be alot happier...and so will your tranny .
