On a serious note, they tend "not to last as long" because when the motor is cold, they have room to float around in the cylinder and give you piston slap. As the pistons warm up, they expand and fill the void. Of course this is all dependent on the quality of the engine builder.

You may want to check into this but IIRC, forged pistons generally have less silicone than cast, higher silicone content can lessen wear.
