Where did you get that torque spec? All the research I've done has lead to "no published torque spec". Furthermore, I highly doubt the torque spec on a M8 bolt into aluminum is 85ft/lbs.

All the sets I've reassembled after powder coat I've just tightened them by feel. If you want a torque spec, look up bolt charts, educate yourself based on the hardware specs and decide for yourself.

I've split dozens of sets. As long as you're not stupid there isn't much that will go wrong. Replace the cross seal.
