In fact the interior reminds me of my Integra. I will say that Honda has gotten too cheap with their Civic now. In fact one of the reasons I steered clear regardless of the cost. Not the Civic of the past. I prefer the Accord now. But I wanted AWD, cheap & fuel economy & Subaru won that hands down. I'm disappointed in the fuel economy but have accepted what I cannot change. The switch over seemed like nothing to me. I have confidence in all Japanese cars. Growing up we had Toyotas & Subarus. Then all Hondas & now our family drives an Impreza, 2 Outbacks & an Accord. We're very faithful to our Japanese.
i grew in a family that rolled through all kinds of Makes (opel, porsche, audi - German, Ford and Buick (the latter was a disaster and a one time buy) and Japanese (Toyota, Honda, Acura). the latter were the favorites by far.

the 2012 Civic turned me off with the cheap interior and poor handling. i actually liked the way the Fit drove, but it felt way too cheap for a $18k car (reminded me of a modern day version of my 1985 Civic Wagon, but with too high a price tag for what one was getting in "refinement").

the 2013 Civic is supposed be a massive improvement (according to the automotive press) but i have yet to see or drive one myself. some friends are in the market for a new car soon, so i may have the opportunity to check it out. it does sound like the 2013 Accord is a winner if you don't need AWD. i know of two people who bought them and are very happy with them (although i haven't had the chance to ride in one yet).

sounds like we are similar: the less than expected mileage on the Impreza is something i've accepted since i can't change it. (and it's not poor enough to make me want to change cars. the other positives of the Impreza outweigh this one disappointment)
