2008 Get Tuned Now

As mentioned above, these runs were done as a quick test of the dyno, and I suspect there is improvement to be had across the board with further tuning, especially at higher boost.

For the 92 octane pump map, the turbo was set at about 16.5PSI. Take a look at the results. NOTE: This is wheel HP and wheel Torque. The dynapak software says flywheel even if the TCF is set to 1.0, which it was. Note that these are not correct to crank HP numbers. This is HP and torque at the wheels. 2006 Stock STI was about 250-255whp about an hour earlier.

Here you see the car is making about 430whp, and 410lb-ft of torque, on only 16.5 PSI! Torque breaks 300 lb-ft at 3250 RPM! Remember this is with a 35R, which on the 2.5L is a laggy turbo.

Let’s take a look at the boost profile:

8PSI at 3000 RPM, hitting the target boost at 3500RPM! That is H6 3.0 for you!

Let’s take a look at a stock 2006 STI in comparison. (Note, this car was put on the dyno the same day, actually just a few mins before we did the H6).

Notice this car has more torque everywhere! This is a true loose nothing upgrade. You get better the stock torque EVERYWHERE, and loads to boot uptop. This is sweet. Mikey likes it!

What is next?

We have two more H6s going into cars in the next few weeks, and are doing some significant upgrades to make more power. The block is getting sleeved, we have replacement rods, and the heads will undergo some head development. The cams need some work to extent the upper end power, and the dual lift makes multiple durations possible. Both of these cars are 02 WRXs, using the same Hydra setup, but drive by throttle. We will be building several standard H6 exhaust headers for different turbo configurations. The H6 going in my car is going to use the GT40 Twin Scroll turbo with the real 1.34AR turbine hotside. We are also working on a turbo H6 for the Legacy, which would be one bad a$$ legacy.

Needless to say, we will have a lot more data and information available in the next few months. Exciting times ahead for the Impreza platform!

Cheers,
