Like Rabbitnutz says.......

Yah, people do run louder than stock, obviously not stock exhausts. BUT, with recent changes in Mass laws, if you DO happen to get a ticket for it, it is now a moving violation and you get points and pretty significant insurance bumps. So even if you get the car inspected without an issue, that does not mean that you are forever ok.

Mass is probably one of the most restrictive states there is for modified car laws. California is the only one I can think of that is worse. I sold my FFR Cobra because Mass is the ONLY state that enforces an EPA requirement that ALL kit cars have to have the engine (no head change, all pollution stuff), tranny (no gear change) and rear end (no gear change) from one vehicle. All pollution stickers must be in place, the charcoal canister must be new and all glass must have DOT markings. No grandfathering, no getting around it. So in essence, all those 29 roadsters running around with a Ford 9" rear and Chevy small block are all likely to be grounded. They've seemed to only pick on Cobras for some reason, but technically any constructed car is subject to this rule. Oh.....and the largest kit car mfg in the country is Factory Five.....in Wareham, MA.
