Kitt - The HKS SS BOV tuned from the mfg. has three threads showing when looking down on the side with the HKS logo.
There is a raised line where the threading starts, then two obvious threads and the third thread is just beyond (1 mm) the outside edge of the lock nut - almost even with it. Hope that helps.

To answer my own question - I called HKS tech support and they are great. The sound of the SS BOV is different than other, non-SS BOVs. There is the primary valve (high pitched) and secondary valve (low pitched) that you can hear. With anything less than full boost and release of throttle the SS BOV secondary valve "chatters" to release spurts of pressure, instead of total release, to retained as much pressure as possible during the gear change.
